Bullying: Preventing and Responding to Student Bullying in Schools Policy
Central to the development of all school policies and strategies is the concept that student welfare covers every aspect of schooling for every child. At Bega Valley Public School, we strive to develop students who are confident, responsible and co-operative. Children are taught and encouraged to be independent decision makers, who have the knowledge, skills, attitude and confidence to adapt to their rapidly and constantly changing world.
We have implemented several special programs to assist us in meeting the needs of all students. These include Buddy Classes, Student Representative Council (SRC), the Breakfast Club, the Woodwork and Bike groups and a range of mentoring opportunities.
The school conducts an outstanding behaviour management program titled "Positive Behaviours for Success" (PBS). The school developed four values – Respect, Responsibility, Cooperation and friendship. These values are taught through a series of lessons, and children are encouraged and acknowledged for demonstrating the behaviours daily.
